Slovenia offers unspoiled, unique and boutique filming locations from the high mountains to the sea, from the underground to the plains. On a territory of 20,237 km2 you can find high alpine mountain regions, green valleys, lakes, caves, wild rivers and deep forest, Mediterranean seaside, coastlife, typical architecture, panoramic sights and also urban romantic cities with rich historical heritage. There are three geographic and climate regions which are easily accessible within two hours drive. The main Slovenian airport is located 20 km north of the capital Ljubljana and offers short travel times to most European destinations by plane, car or train.
Our team has a rich knowledge and wide experience in TV, commercials, feature, documentaries, corporate, digital and stills shoot in Slovenia. We coordinate all parties and can help out with all stages of production: Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production within the highest quality standards. The crew we provide is highly motivated, committed and reliable!
In Slovenia it’s not hard to get permits. The deadlines and fees depend on the location as well as the private properties permits that are processed by the owners individually. For example, filming in Ljubljana at certain location which is in control of the city may be carried out for a very reasonable fee or even free of charge. The permits are mostly required for bigger sets because filming in public spaces without tripods and static lights are allowed. Drone operations are regulated and the owner needs permission from the Civil Aviation Authority. There are accommodating and helpful local authorities, the police, and voluntary and public civil servants.
In confined space of Slovenia one can find many highly diverse natural, regional and architecturally distinct filming locations. For the same effect, one would be expected to travel somewhere much farther and more extensively. For instance, the location of Ljubljansko Barje (Ljubljana Marshes) could easily replace a Vietnamese swamp. Goriška Brda (Gorizia Hills) could be mistaken for Tuscany and many villages in Karst for Provence. Ljubljana, Maribor and other northeast towns have the spirit, architecture and atmosphere to match any other Central European town, while Piran has some of the very same romantic feel of Venice.
